Affiliate disclosure

Plain answers about money, links and recommendations.

The short version

Some links on gold.fish, mainly in the buying guides, may in future be affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend or how we describe it.

Where the links are

Commercial links appear only in clearly labelled buying guides and on product cards within them. Care guides, breed profiles, health pages and tools contain no affiliate links. Where a care guide points you to a buying guide, it says so in the sentence ("our buying guide to filters").

At the time of writing, the retailer links on this site are plain search links and do not earn anything. When affiliate links are introduced, the links themselves will carry a rel="sponsored" attribute and this page will be updated.

How recommendations are made

Products are chosen for how well they suit goldfish specifically: turnover and gentle flow for filters, sinking formats for fancy goldfish food, precision for test kits, footprint for tanks. Each recommendation is labelled as researched, editorial opinion, or tested by us, and we never claim hands-on testing that has not happened. Commission rates play no part in the choice.

Sponsored content

We do not currently publish sponsored content. If that changes, any sponsored product or page will be labelled "Sponsored" where it appears, and sponsored placements will never be presented as editorial recommendations.

Advertising

gold.fish does not currently display advertising. If advertising is introduced, it will be placed where it does not interrupt reading, and advertisers will have no influence over editorial content.

Put gold.fish on your home screen

It opens full screen, like any app, and the pages you have read open without a connection.

  1. Tap Share

The square with an arrow pointing up. In Safari it is in the bar at the bottom of the screen, or at the top on an iPad; if you see only the address, tap ••• beside it first. In Chrome it is at the right of the address bar.

  2. Choose Add to Home Screen

If it is not in the list, scroll down, or tap View More.

  3. Tap Add

If your iPhone shows Open as Web App, leave it on. The icon joins your other apps.

  1. Open the browser’s menu

The three dots at the top right in Chrome, or the three lines at the bottom in Samsung Internet.

  2. Choose Install app

Some browsers call it Add to Home screen; in Samsung Internet it is under Add page to.

  3. Tap Install

The icon joins your other apps, on the home screen and in the app drawer.
